As a manager at The Art & Hobby Shop, much of my day revolved around administrative duties. Throughout my time there I digitised a large portion of the financial paperwork into excel worksheets so that figures could be entered and calculated automatically. I also locked the formulas in these worksheets to avoid any mishaps. Other daily administrative duties included but were not limited to invoicing, ordering, stock receipting, rostering, delivery records, staff management and quarterly and monthly budgeting.
While managing I also changed the lighting in the building from fluorescent lighting to LED. I worked with the electrical contractor to attain a grant from SEAI. The benefits were instantly recognisable when the job was complete. More customers were drawn into the store more as it was brighter and the energy costs were halved.
